So apparently, the fastest way to get me to add a book to my wishlist is to tell me that somebody is protesting it and wants to burn it. Stacey got me an awesometastic "I Read Banned Books" bracelet for Christmas - clearly, she knows me well. I'm sure this says something about the psychology of Dani, but it doesn't take any kind of degree to know that I'm a bit contrary.

I saw a Salman Rushdie novel in the PX about a month ago. I haven't actually read it yet (and, in fact, I actually sent it home in my footlocker full of stuff I didn't want to have to carry before reading it) and don't actually even remember what it was called. Something about a woman who had a love affair with a young Machiavelli. (presumably, prompting him to become such a dick. ^.^ ) I was only vaguely interested in it. However, even though I don't know if that particular book is banned or not, the prospect of buying a Salman Rushdie book in an Islamic country was just one that I couldn't bear to pass up. ^.^
