Things That Suck

I have now called the police to come out to my house twice tonight. Each time, as soon as I turned the lights off in the house and headed to bed, I started hearing house creak noises and floor creak noises. Lots of them - more than can be accounted for under normal conditions. The second time I heard what was quite distinctly tape being pulled off a roll.

Neither time did they find anything, but I'm making Erik come home anyway. I'm entirely too disturbed by this. Legacy of being in a broken-into house one too many times in my childhood, I'm afraid.

I can't STAND being afraid like this, and I can't STAND that I called Erik to come home early because of it. I was tired, but I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight.

egads that's creepy. I hope it turns out to be nothing and you'll be able to get some sleep yet.

VA is one of the better states for firearms laws, neh? Maybe a little extra protection would help you sleep better at night (just remember to keep the safety on, and the first round unchambered... preferably keeping the magazine -beside- the weapon, not in it, but that slows down response time, which may not be desireable... though you could keep it unloaded most of the time, and just load it at times like this).
