AURGHHH!!!!!! True story:
Phone rings. Some guy on base is getting Viagra spam from another base email address. C takes the lead, calls our network security guy. Actual quote: "We need help, user X is getting hacked."

Spam != being "hacked." There's a little thing called "address spoofing" that, y'know, most spammers use.
