You could always just get an answering-machine message to put them off. Maybe have some random friend pretend it is their place, so people stop calling, thinking it a wrong number. There is also the option of making it sound as if you are completely insane...though the truth or untruth of that statement is, of course, not something I shall voice my opinion on.
