Every county to the south and west of my house had, essentially, school closings across the board due to snow. There's no snow at my house yet, or here at work, but it's threatening in both places.

Oh, and there was hail on my way in to work this morning. Yay! Also a fire drill once at work, in the cold. Yay! As soon as it starts snowing out my way, Erik is supposed to call so I can fly like a bat out of hell make my sedate way back home before the roads out there get too horrible to drive on. When you have narrow, windy country roads with no shoulders, that doesn't take long.

A quick stop at the grocery store for more milk (required for most tea, and cocoa as well) and waxed paper (for chocolate dipped stuff) might be in order as well. Three different kinds of cookies, biscotti, and scones still to go, after all...Lots and lots of scones, because otherwise I will eat them all, and there will be none left for gift-giving. Scones are love.

I so want the base to close, but that's so not happening this year. Unless we have a situation where there's upwards of three feet of snow, but it's not even all that likely in that very unlikely eventuality.

Maybe I should make cranberry scones, too. Cranberry scones are almost as good as gingerbread scones on the great continuity of sconish greatness. And they go better with cranberry tea. Yum. I'm almost out of that, though, which is sad.

GH@JUT4W0[Y5JBM$WJ450$&1961Q-7Y!!!!!

I wanted to get a few more hours of work in before I had to head home because of snow...

Probably no work for me tomorrow, and lots of baking today, though...Erik has forced a promise of a batch of rice krispie treats all for him with what's left from the first batch, because seeing a plate of them that he can't eat is killing him. Which makes me laugh. I need to remember the baked goods torment for future tormentation if he starts acting out again. ^_^

Hi. My name is Dani, and I just remembered why I stopped sewing all those years ago. I am a fabric addict. I love fabric. I had a bad habit of buying gorgeous fabric I had no good use for, just because I found it Wonderful.

Yes, my box from Joanne Fabrics arrived today. Yes, all three of my fabrics are more wonderfuller than I had thought they'd be. And I want more. And I still have the curtain fabric I nicked from my mother. And there are about five other fabrics on the Joanne website that I want. What am I going to do with all this? Well...make bloomers with the three that arrived today. But...I don't think I need more than three pairs of bloomers.

My garb addiction is bad. But gar is expensive. Fabric...can also be expensive (helloooo $250 a yard fabrics...), but typically not quite as bad.

I also have at least five different cross stitch kits that I have yet to open...not to mention the two I started but haven't touched in over a year.

Textiles are love. But it's a bad, bad, dangerous love. Next thing you know, I'm going to be buying large pieces of PVC and strange plastic apparati from farming stores and filling the barn with Strange Sights And Smells. Which sounds like a great idea, actually - the barn is nothing if not well-ventilated, perfectly suited to being converted to a dying studio. Mmmmm....Shibori.... And ombre! I could rig a winch system using the rafters to ombre large pieces of fabric! Nothing like combining geeky engineering with equally geeky textile love.

I don't normally post memes, unless they're notable or especially amusing in some way. This one...more than qualifies.

I've been a naughty, naughty girl )

Yea, uh, sorry about that, Jeremy. I have also vowed not to make the Tasteless Joke for the third year running. I swear. No, no, really!
