Today, the unthinkable happened. While I was driving (if you can call crawling at under 25MPH because the fog is so thick I can't even see the side of the road driving...) home, listening to the only radio station I can currently stand, a piece of music came on that made me want to rush out
now and buy a CD. It was...amazing. I'm not sure what track it was (two tracks, actually), but it was off of
Libertango by Sharon Shannon. Fantastic, wonderful work.
It was followed by a Scottish fiddle player by the name of Chris Stout. An unfortunate Google accident brought me to
this page. While exploring on Amazon, I stumbled across
this, which makes me happy beyond happy. I love David Arkenstone. I love Tolkien. I fail to see how a work by one inspired by the other can be bad. I do believe it's time to build up my Celtic/fiddle/world music collection again. I need a new CD book, though - my current anime/Celtic/world/classical book is full and then some.
If anyone has some suggestions, I love just about anything with a fiddle, harps, steel guitar, etc. Celtic suggestions would be wonderful, but also mountain, Gypsy, flamanco or mariachi, middle eastern, etc. I want to know what's good.
*purr* It made me happy. Peach Girl: CoH 10 also made me happy last night. I can't believe, after
how many years, that Peach Girl is over. Sort of. There's a continuation series, and an upcoming anime, which makes me happy beyond words. It had damn better be a good adaptation!
[EDIT] Ah, bliss, I finally found out how to order
Mando Mafia CDs. I'm not
entirely sure why I had such a tough time tracking them down before.
It's been a long time since music has made me quite this happy. Music other than
Blackthorn, that is. I guess it really is true that there are real gems to be had far off the beaten paths. Sifting the wheat from the chaff is so hard sometimes, but when you find something truly good...*bliss*
I think I need to go to bed before I order any more CDs...
