Today, the unthinkable happened. While I was driving (if you can call crawling at under 25MPH because the fog is so thick I can't even see the side of the road driving...) home, listening to the only radio station I can currently stand, a piece of music came on that made me want to rush out now and buy a CD. It was...amazing. I'm not sure what track it was (two tracks, actually), but it was off of Libertango by Sharon Shannon. Fantastic, wonderful work.

It was followed by a Scottish fiddle player by the name of Chris Stout. An unfortunate Google accident brought me to this page. While exploring on Amazon, I stumbled across this, which makes me happy beyond happy. I love David Arkenstone. I love Tolkien. I fail to see how a work by one inspired by the other can be bad. I do believe it's time to build up my Celtic/fiddle/world music collection again. I need a new CD book, though - my current anime/Celtic/world/classical book is full and then some.

If anyone has some suggestions, I love just about anything with a fiddle, harps, steel guitar, etc. Celtic suggestions would be wonderful, but also mountain, Gypsy, flamanco or mariachi, middle eastern, etc. I want to know what's good.

*purr* It made me happy. Peach Girl: CoH 10 also made me happy last night. I can't believe, after how many years, that Peach Girl is over. Sort of. There's a continuation series, and an upcoming anime, which makes me happy beyond words. It had damn better be a good adaptation!

[EDIT] Ah, bliss, I finally found out how to order Mando Mafia CDs. I'm not entirely sure why I had such a tough time tracking them down before.

It's been a long time since music has made me quite this happy. Music other than Blackthorn, that is. I guess it really is true that there are real gems to be had far off the beaten paths. Sifting the wheat from the chaff is so hard sometimes, but when you find something truly good...*bliss*

I think I need to go to bed before I order any more CDs...

Auuuuugh I think I have exactly that musical taste. How would you feel about hooking me up with samples via mp3 form? Please? *wibbles*

I think I can *cough* provide you with "samples." Are AAC files OK? I'm ripping my CDs at a fairly high quality right now, so they should sound blissful.

Do you still need FMA?

I dunno what AAC files are, but if Winamp plays them it's all good.

I'm getting FMA from Rob via Josh, so no. I'm on ep 10. It's GOOD. I hadn't expected it to be good this early, but it was. This is probably the first anime I'm not having to drag myself through to get through the first few episodes. Very excited.

For reasons incomprehensible to me, people like saying it doesn't get "good" until eisode 4, or episode 14, or episode 24 (or was it 25?). I was hooked from the first episode, and I've got Erik hooked on that crack now, too.

AAC is the format that iTunes uses, and I think Pam was able to get it working with Winamp, so it should be good. I think I was able to play them at work using Winamp, for that matter...

Yea, I've got a gig here, and that doesn't count the new CDs ordered tonight. You're getting some of the more obscure and strange stuff, too. ^_^

Don't worry! You'll probably get me hooked, too, as soon as I can get a way to play the damned things... -_-

(Thanks again, by the way.)

Ooh, awesome. Obscure and strange is hard to get. Thanks! ^_^

Yeah, FMA had me pretty much with the first ep, as well. And that's very hard to do. It kept consistantly delivering, too. It's like Naruto in that it watches extremely easily. I can marathon a handful of eps without batting an eye.

Do you know if AAC burns to CD with Nero or would I need to convert that first?

No clue, I don't have Nero. Sorry!
