Opinions wanted!

Is a 2GHz laptop with 256MB of memory and a 20 GB hard drive worth $425?

I'd probably get an extra battery and a docking station with it, and it still has almost a year warrantee left on it.

Yea, I would say that is a good price, especially if all the other things you mentioned are coming with it.

I would suggest checking on the type of processor it has though. Make sure it is good for what you want to use it for.

Based on the spec sheet, it's:

PROCESSOR, 80532, 2.0GHZ, 512K, PENTIUM 4, MICRO FLIP CHIP PIN GRID ALIGNMENT

So that's not really a worry. And a closer look reveals that it has a CD-RW/DVD combo drive. Now to see if I can talk Erik into it...

256MB seems a little low, so make sure it has a common type of memory. Other than that, hell yes.

Yes, since that's a pretty decent laptop and that's an amazing price for one. What manufacteror, out of curiosity?

Dell. It's one benefit of NMCI - they're getting rid of almost all our existing hardware, and we can buy it back in most cases.

Now to just make sure that there's still one of these models laying around for me. Big Al needs to hook a girl up.

Odd, I also have a "Big Al" that's capable of hooking me up in this department. :oD

I need to contact him about a laptop, but it's totally useless until I get some freaking money, which won't be for at least a month. *sighs*

What's funny is that this guy isn't particularly big in any way, although he is rather tall.

I'm unsure about the money bit as well. My spare cash for the month went to paying back my parents a bit, so I'd have to borrow from Erik. If he's at peace, then I go for it. Otherwise I wait and pick up a Powerbook sometime this year. Win-win either way, I think.
