I so need to find someone who can knit for me, because whoa PIRATE SOCKS!! MORE pirate socks! ARGYLE pirate socks! FSM Pirate hat!

Also an UNGODLY number of kickass scarf patterns.

I'm going to have to suck it up and learn to knit eventually, aren't I?

ETA: Dear self. You need HALF A YARD of fabric for one particular scarf. Yes, this means that you have to suck it up and buy a full yard online, since no fabric store in the area stocks it and you need THIS EXACT FABRIC, NO OTHER WILL DO for this project. You don't need to order four more yards of not-exactly-cheap fabric to accompany it home. DO NOT. Might I remind you that you have SIX unfinished scarves at home already, to be done this weekend? This would bring the total up to SIXTEEN, and I don't think anybody needs that many scarves, no matter how awesome.

Sincerely, The Voice Of Reason

ETA2: Dear VOR. The fabric would be lonely. But you're absolutely right, five is a crowd. So there are only three yards coming home with me. In my defense, shipping was free, and the whole order was 20% off, making it cheaper than the fabric order I almost placed last week for a mere two yards. So I saved money! True, none of this fabric was the awesome pony print that was going to be destined for my inlaws, but they'll survive with camel-colored fuzzy softness. And...and...PURPLE!! Love, moi.

The sad part is that I have most of those already. But...hand knitted pirate socks!

It's not so much the difficulty as it is that it would take away time from everything else, and I don't have much of the time thing to begin with. And the knowledge that I would probably develop a yarn stash from hell.

Heh, oddly enough, I have none of them.

Or you could do crochet too. :3 (they make cute plushies)

I'll knit a scarf for you if you provide the yarn. :)

You're so on. I'm going to try to wrap up a WIP or two this weekend (reality - I might finish one), and then I'll email you. Thanks!

Shouldn't that be ARRR-gyle pirate socks?

[identity profile] kythryne.livejournal.com 2008-11-23 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome. I presently have an ungodly number of projects going/about to be started, but scarves are quick and easy.

I can't see the links you linked! I bet they are cool! :( I've seen those sock dreams socks before, too, and I want some like mad, but they probably wouldn't fit me right anyway. Arm warmers though maybe. XD

Boo, Ravelry sucks like that.

BTW, do you have the gmail themes?

[identity profile] collarnojutsu.livejournal.com 2008-11-25 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I replied to this via email, but with the LJ connection time out earlier, it looks like it didn't go thru :( Oh well, i talked about themes in your other post. :)

Absurdly late, but the yarn is on its way to you now, with some extra goodies of the edible kind - no hurry on the scarf, it's not time-sensitive (for my mom, and I already have another Christmas gift for her).

That giant time sink? That's my life right now. Right next to the giant sinkhole that almost opened up under my car today...

Package arrived safely, and thank you for the delicious cookies! (Any chance I could get the recipe for the pecan tart-esque thing? That vanished in about two seconds flat.) Do you have a pattern in mind for the yarn, and what's the fiber content? I have no fiber allergies, but Amy's sensitive to some fibers, so there are certain things I have to be careful to only knit in my studio.

[identity profile] mordath.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'll pull out the recipe and email it to you - they're even more amazing fresh out of the oven (and I'm not a huge pecan fan!) No particular pattern in mind, something simple and scarf-like? - the yarn is just wool (Corriedale and domestic, if that makes a difference). Thank you again!

Got an approximate yardage on the yarn? I'll take a look at some patterns tonight or tomorrow.

One skein is 88 yards, the other is 162. The one tied with brown is the bulkier of the two, IIRC.
