BFL is lovely to spin! Makes the other fibers I've been spinning seem positively inferior. This is my first spindle, and it's wonderful, but...(comparatively) heavy, so I can't manage thin on it very well. Or even - I can spin long stretches of beautiful even yarn, and then BAM super thick section because I somehow end up with way more fiber than I wanted and can't figure out what to do with it. Of course, I've only spun Coopworth and Corriedale on it thus far...

This is my second spindle (but with a red shaft), and it's incredibly light. This is what I started spinning the BFL on, and thus far I've managed to spin about half a dozen yards of thin, gorgeous yarn. Then I started getting tired and clumsy and my roving kept breaking, so I stopped - no sense in getting frustrated. I want to spin something obnoxiously colorful like this or this, although merino still kind of scares me. For some reason the bright contrasting colors are really appealing right now - I think I want to see how they'll look spun up and plied.

I plied my second yarn tonight. It's...special, but the plying was MUCH less traumatic than the first time around. No random breaking, no giant tangles, just funky yarn. I'll get pictures (also more cute baby pictures) eventually - Erik's asleep, so I can't go digging around for the camera at the moment. Mids is HARD when I'm woken up at 2 and not allowed to nap. Want to sleep now. Can't. If I try to nap now, I'll sleep until morning and be even more thrown off. Boo.
