I'm finally getting my (veggie) garden, yay. Current plans call for a phased approach with lots of yummy things (new veggies added and existing veggies expanded as years pass), raised beds, pest control plants, happy companion plant planting style, and so forth.

Raised beds mean I might not have to take any other anti-rabbit measures, a little bit of chicken wire will keep out burrowing pests, and it should only take a couple of hours to put together.

The sheer variety of what I eventually want is awesome. And they're almost all really, really easy to grow.

Aaaaand - there's the potential for me to start some of the veggies for this fall, even. Depending on how long it takes me to get everything actually built. We'll be set for the spring, though. AND I'm getting apple trees this fall. I want honeycrisp, but I think it's too hot in Spotsyltucky, so I might have to settle for another variety. Maybe Macintosh, Gala, or Fuji - haven't decided or researched yet.

YAY!

(Note: This was somewhat prompted by my newfound obsession with CSAs - probably because Erik determined that letting me build my veggie garden is going to be much cheaper than having me pay $500+ for a veggie share from a CSA farm, and we don't have to do weekly pickups. But CSAs still own my soul.)
