Dani is going to be forced to seriously reconsider her current caffiene, or lack thereof, habit. As in, it might be prudent for me to develop one. This three hour drive may be only twice a week, but damn.

Other than that, things are good. Work will be fun, and challenging, I think I'm starting to get a handle on what it is we do, and I'm hoping that by the middle to end of next week I'll start doing neat stuff on my own.

One of the good things is that most of the folks I'm working with are also fairly new - some a few weeks, some just a few months. This is a job that's going to challenge me and kick my ass for me, which is good - really, it is. Although I won't be doing as much command line/UNIX stuff as I initially thought. Which is both good and bad - I need to bring back my 'nix proficiency, because I am sorely lacking in that front. But the firewall stuff all looks pretty familiar, although there are lots of little gotchas that I'm sure are going to catch me up as I go. But breaking things is a net admin's job!

Also, there are some damn funny trouble tickets out there.

And I'm just babbling at this point, because I had nothing between a 6AM muffin and dinner, and Erik somehow talked me into ordering alcoholic beverages that have turned off the buffer between my fingers and my brain. Which, really, isn't all that different from normal, come to think of it.

ANYWAY! Point of the post is that I'm on limited internet until I get things here and at my temp quarters figured out - nothing at all during the day, hopefully broadband in the evenings once my stepfather remembers his wireless network key. And painfully slow dialup on weekends, since I'm sticking with M-F for "training" for now. (In actuality, because my shift supervisor rocks, and is trying to make the whole offer letter shift fiasco go away, despite it completely not being his fault.)
