machine_dove at 06:58am on 22/01/2007Despite a bold attempt, I am clearly not going to be making it in to work any time soon. What was just a few inches of powdery snow yesterday is now a few inches of solid ice. Covering everything - most especially the roads. After about five miles it became obvious that the 60 or so miles into work was Not Happening.
Of course, they didn't shut the base down, oh no. It's "liberal leave." Which is Dahlgren-ese for "it'll cost us over $1,000,000 to shut the base down today, so even though it's so unsafe to drive that nobody should even attempt to make it in, including the captain who lives about twenty feet from his office, we're not shutting things down."
Meh - I've had nothing that I could really call sleep in over a week now, and it's Done Got Old.
