I made an unpleasant discovery this morning - apparently, I no longer have abdominal muscles. Or, at least, not ones worth the name. This Will Not Be Tolerated. I'm rather afraid to test my back muscles - if they're not there anymore, either, I'm not sure I want to know. Although it would probably explain at least part of why my fibro has been so out of control lately...
Bah! Meanwhile, my sixteen-year-old brother in law, who probably doesn't weigh 130 pounds, can squat almost 600 pounds. This strikes me as somewhat unfair. Never having been a sixteen-year-old boy, the most I could ever squat was 300. (Also, I am jealous of both his and Erik's bone density. I still have bird bones, despite martial arts, a dairy-heavy diet and daily calcium supplements daily since I was about twelve.)
Anyway, I think I shall see what the "Total Gym" offers in way of abdominal and back exercises once I get home, ideally ones that don't end up with me flung across the room like entirely too many other things I've tried. Tomorrow, I shall attempt the "getting up at 0'dark-thirty and working out first thing in the morning in a futile attempt to wake myself up" thing. Perhaps.
(Oh - and if anything earth-shattering has happened any time between Dec 20th and, oh, now - let me know. My internet access has been more sporadic than usual, and LJ didn't get much of the reading...)
