At last, my long wait is almost over. While it isn't listed on the website, I have found a press release from last year confirming what Erik found in our newest phone book - there is going to be a Sonic at the new Super Target shopping center in Massapponax.

Very likely none of you out there have any freaking clue what this means to me. Sonic...drives me insane. For years we've been subjected to an extensive advertising campaign, extolling the virtues of cherry limeade, cream slushes, and other such beverage delights. Extensive advertising - when the closest Sonic is over two hundred miles away.

(Ah - and I was just subjected to a lecture from Boss!Lady - our facility security officer - on why banning liquids on airplanes is a good thing, and increases security. Apparently, she's one of the "sacrifice liberty for safety and get neither" sorts of people.)

But yay Sonic!

"You don't even believe in God!" Indira had once protested.

Julius chewed his lip. "No, I don't. But you never know. And if He does exist, He has two outstanding characteristics. Judging, at least, from the Old Testament."

"Which are?"

"He's the most hot-tempered, narrow-minded, mean-spirited, intolerant, anal-compulsive, bigoted redneck who ever lived. And, what's more to the point, he's a lousy shot."

"It's true!" he insisted, in the face of Indira's laughter. "Read the Book yourself. Somebody pisses Him off, does He nail 'em right between the eyes like Buffalo Bill? Hell, no! He drowns everything. Or He blasts whole cities, or drops seven lean years on entire nations. Indiscriminate, that's what He is. The Sawed-off Shotgun In The Sky. So I ain't getting anywhere near that den of iniquity."

Let's see - first off, Fen has apparently lost his baby canine teeth way too fast. This somehow translates into "your dog is going to be between 80 and 100 pounds when he's fully grown." *twitch* Puppy training, stat.

Then, there was the cat. After a $500 heart workup, I find out that she has subaortic stenosis - basically, there's a flap of skin in her left ventricle partially blocking the blood flow into the aorta. Solution? A) do nothing, eventually put her on drugs to slow down her heart rate, life span of only 6-8 years, or B) open heart surgery. *twitch*

Because, you know, the past 24 hours haven't sucked hard enough yet.
