Dani-kind cannot live off Wintergreen lifesavers alone. But damn if I'm not giving it a go.

Still feeling much akin to the undead - even riding into town with Erik driving is leaving me completely dead. Not cool - and I have to somehow make it back to work on Tuesday. Where I will be forced to deal with the stupid until I collapse into a messy pile of goo all over them in a futile attempt at revenge.

I, for reasons and logic that escape me, attempted to work out on the elliptical today. I made it all of seven minutes before pretty much just collapsing. Remind me to not try that again any time soon. Or, knowing myself as I do, at least until tomorrow.

DVD backlog stands thus: Full Moon 1, Kaleido Star New Wings 5 [EDIT: make that 4], Gankutsuou 5, Kyo Kara Maoh 8, and Kodocha 7-8 [EDIT: Also Kamichu 2]. I'm currently stuck in a state where I have no idea what I want to watch next, which means I'll just grab something at random off the shelf, hope it's not Kodocha 8, and watch that. Yay!

Finally managed to get around to starting The Briar King, which I picked up for $1.25 two months after the hardcover originally came out. For some reason, I never got around to picking it up off the shelf. Thus far, I'm really liking it - it's your Standard Fantasy Epic, and not doing anything particularly original, but it's at least doing Standard Fantasy Epic well, and hasn't (yet?) fallen into the "diverse characters live their lives, and then through A Trick Of Fate wind up together on an Epic Quest to Save the World from the Ancient Evil" path. Yet. I feel it coming, though. Still, all things being equal, brain candy is just what I need.

The good news: Slayers novels 7 and 8 are licensed!

The bad news: They're going to be online exclusives, only available through Tokyopop's web store (so, probably, TRSI). Sans discounts. Along with other awesome titles that can't seem to catch a break like One and Dragon Voice. (Other titles there that might possibly interest me at this moment: St. Lunatic School (gothic lolita for the win!), Short Sunzen, and Rure - I'm willing to be sold on others, though)

Thoughts - one, it sucks that these aren't selling well enough to get big pushes. That being said, if print on demand/online only is the only way I'm going to get them...I'll take it. Happily. It's a hell of a lot better than outright cancellation. I'll move beyond ambivalence and into outright support if this means I get to see more titles that might not have been licensed at all in the future - vintage shoujo and sports titles, say. But at the moment, I'm still ambivalent.

The worst news of all: No plans to license 9-15. At all. And you can't fool me with that "any other company is open to pick up the license!" BS. Yes, I'm sure it's true, but I just don't see anybody else picking them up any time soon after Tokyopop managed to make it fail so well by mismarketing it so badly.

Meh.
