Chinese martial arts are frickin' wierd. Especially the internal styles. Erik and I did some Ba Gua warmups followed by Qui Gong (basically - the Ba Gua warmups done really...frickin'...slow...), and I managed to pull a muscle in my back pretty badly doing the Ba Gua side kick, which is almost but not quite entirely unlike a Hapkido side kick. My brain was telling my body to do the Ba Gua kick, while my muscles were insisting on doing the Hapkido one that's been drilled in until it's pretty much bone-deep. Needless to say, this is how I managed to hurt myself.
I think I'll be sticking to Korean and Japanese styles - they just make so much more sense!
Also, I want this. (Double icon utility bonus points! Score!)
