So, it occurs to me that I didn't post this yesterday.

Books Read in May:

83. Gloriana, Michael Moorcock (5/4/06)
84. Sorcery & Cecelia, Patricia C Wrede and Caroline Stevermer (5/5/06)
85. The Grand Tour, Patricia C Wrede and Caroline Stevermer (5/6/06)
86. Only the Ring Finger Knows: The Lonely Ring Finger, Satoru Kannagi (5/7/06)
87. The Excalibur Alternative, David Weber (5/9/06)
88. Rats, Bats, and Vats, Eric Flint (5/10/06)
89. The Firebird's Vengeance, Sarah Zettel (5/10/06)
90. The Rats, the Bats, and the Ugly, Eric Flint and David Freer (5/12/06)
91. Genie Out of the Bottle, Eric Flint and David Freer (5/12/06)
92. Interstellar Patrol, Christopher Anvil (5/16/06)
93. Pandora's Legions, Christopher Anvil (5/22/06)
94. Grimmer than Hell, David Drake (5/25/06)
95. John the Balladeer, Manly Wade Wellman (5/31/06)

You'll notice that they're almost all crap. And all but three or so were ebooks read during some of the long, pointless meetings I had to sit though this month. I think the Wrede omnibus was the only paper book I read from start to finish in May - the others were started in April. As always, the full list for the year is here.

But...I'm packing for my trip to Vegas next week (ROCK!), and trying to determine what books to bring with me. Since I won't have much, if any, free time while I'm there, I figure ten or so books should get me through the trip. My somewhat up-to-date list of my book backlog is here - any suggestions on what I should bring?

Infernokrush Slipstream classic Gun, with Occasional Music is coming, as is A Son Named Gabriel. And probably one or two volumes of Charles de Lint. But beyond that...any thoughts?

Ah, NMCI, how you make our lives easier and more streamlined. Truly, an example for us all.

Let's take two examples from today. To log in to your computer now, you need a registered certificate. Certificates expire every couple of years and have to be replaced. In order to log in with a certificate, you have to register it while logged on to your account. But in order to log into your account, your certificate has to be registered. Catch-22, thou'rt a bitch.

Or this little gem. It used to be that I had to log in twice to two different servers in order to do my time card. Now, with the new streamlined process, if I want to do my time card I have to log into these same two servers...six times.

Ah, efficiency. Truly, there's nothing like it. And this, this...is nothing at all like it.

At least I don't have to go out to work at the site tonight, yay!

In which blaming the victim becomes even more surreal...

I...don't know. I'm too tired for this right now.
