Spring seems to have caught everyone by suprise this year, the trees included. Driving in to work this morning, I drove past rows and rows of trees. Interspersed with the bare, skeletal trees were the pear and early cherry trees, festooned in cotton-candy-white blossoms. If it wasn't for the grass turning green beneath them it would be easy to mistake the white for snow.
Usually most of the trees are covered with a green haze of unfurling new leaves by the time the pears start blooming, but not this year. Even some of the plum trees have beaten the new leaves with pink-purple blossoms.
