I've felt worse, I'm sure. I can't pinpoint exactly when that would have been, but I'm sure it exists. I was doing mostly OK, other than being dead and congested and coughing and unable to eat until I tried to go to bed. This was, as they say, a Grave Miscalculation.

I can't take any more 'Quil until 1:30. AM. I will probably be awake. My animals are convinced that I should play with them, but I'm pretty sure they'd win.

We've had a flock of robins take up residence in our front yard for the past several weeks - not a handful of robins, or even a couple dozen, but hundreds, at least two or three. It was an impressive sight. My theory is that they picked our house for the sole purpose of driving Hellkitten insane. It worked.

Today, however, there were no robins. I didn't really think much of it - we have massive flocks of birds come and go all the time (the huge flock of cardinals is my favorite - I can't wait for them to come back), until Erik pointed out a large bird on one of the many large broken branches littering the uncleared parts of our yard. He couldn't make out what it was, even with the binoculars - a hawk or owl, he thought. I have better eyes, and was able to make out the patterns of feathers on his breast, and the huge head and neck - it was an owl, a huge gorgeous one. Presumably, he came for the buffet.

We've seen him a few times near the decaying barn on the corner, but never this close to our house. I'm not completely sure how large he is - his wingspan is easily three feet across, and possibly as much as five. He's really a beautiful bird, and I'd love to get a decent shot of him. For that, though, I'd need to brush up my insanely rusty 35mm skills, pull out the tripod, and probably buy a new lens - the ones I have don't allow for much in the way of zoom.

But it really seems like a shame to have all this beautiful bird life pass through my yard, and not capture at least a little of it on film.

Now, my teeth hurt. It's enough to make me want to take a swig of Hungarian moonshine and pull out my own teeth with pliers.

The rest of this entry is C-kun's fault, for bringing up Little Shop, which lead to Erik singing the dentist song at full volume while we were driving.

This is the anecdote I use when conversations turn to crazy roommates )

Grah - it's midnight, I'm not feeling any better, and I still can't sleep. I forgot that 'Quil of the "Ny" variety has unpredictable effects on me, including, on random occasions, causing me to stay awake for several days at a stretch. That hasn't happened for a while...
