machine_dove: (Christmas FMA)
Erik and I made it about twenty miles from the house before he decided that he didn't really want to go to the squad Christmas party after all. Which works for me - drunken cops are fun the first dozen or so times, but...

So instead we stopped off at the grocery store, ran into Marshall and The Angry Child (no more mentions of us taking him, thank god), and picked up almost everything I needed to do my baking. Except chopped walnuts, because they were out, bag-thingees because they didn't have any, and waxed paper, because I am dumb. I also appear to have left most of my recipe printouts at work, where they're doing me a ton of good, let me tell you.

It was kind of funny - we spent the morning cleaning the house, and especially the kitchen. We finally got the kitchen clean, and all the countertops cleared...just in time for me to unload all the baking stuff and completely cover the island. Yay! I should be able to get one batch of cookies finished tonight, at least two or three more tomorrow, and the rice krispie treats need only waxed paper so I can do the chocolate-dipping thing. Which will probably wait until I find a biscotti recipe I like, so I can dip those at the same time.

The gingerbread scones...still scare me. That's a two person sort of operation if you don't want bits of spiced molassas batter all over everything. But...hopefully, everything will be done this week, and I'll get them all out in the mail sometime next week. So...

If you want a baked-stuff gift from me, and you have not yet sent me your address, now's the time. My journal name @livejournal.com goes right to my primary personal email. Yay!

Of course, if it snows tonight I'll be staying home and getting all the baking done tomorrow. But it's not going to snow, because I won't allow it. ^_^
