The Zoo over Ambuscade Street

The weekend was a blast, even though Saturday at PARF was Really, Really Cold. Stacey and I were forced to splurge on Warm Things, so I now have a pretty spiffy shawl, and Stacey has a much spiffier hooded black wool cloak. Melissa (managed to find her, yay, and YES, the commission is a go, she's going to send me a quote, you know who you are) assures me that my cloak and Erik's doublet are going to be finished before we need them again. ^_^;; Oh, and I bought a Sharp, Pointy Object as well - a bodice dagger/scissors, for *much* cheaper than the only other set I've been able to locate. These will come in handy next VARF season. I'm told, however, that if I wear it under my bodice lacing when I drive to the faire, I could get arrested for having a concealed weapon. Even though it isn't concealed at all behind a few pieces of string. The logic escapes me, but I'll take his word for it. I'm not sure where, in a Mini, I'll be able to keep the thing without risking concealed weapon charges, so it should be an adventure.

I bought no glass, even though I was sorely tempted by three goblets. I restrained myself. Until next season...

I got to introduce all three of them to the joys of hibachi dining on Saturday night, which was way fun. Except I wasn't hugely hungry, so instead of ordering a full meal I ordered a side of chicken and a side of fried noodles - and somehow ended up with more food than everybody else. That was entertaining, sort of. Erik discovered sake, which he's decided is the greatest thing since mead (although this was good sake, so I'm not sure what he's going to think of normal or bad sake...), and ordered four carafes of the stuff. He claims he wasn't drunk, but those of us who witnessed the whole thing disagree. ^_^;; He ate more than three quarters of my food in addition to his, to "soak up the alcohol."

Other stuff happened, but I'm feeling the urge to go read something, so I probably won't bother about typing it all up.
