Current annoyance of the day: People are threatening to shut down my NMCI account, because I haven't taken IA training yet. Wait! But I have, just not on their damn server, because for some reason the server isn't configured to accept last names that are two words. And it won't take my last name as one word. And since it doesn't use any actual usernames, I...can't log in. Their answer to my problem? "Click 'yes' when the training asks you 'did you complete this training.'" Thanks, but...I can't log into your damn server, and you haven't bothered to answer any of my emails in months. Thanks. What the hell else can I do?

The yearly invasion of my bathroom by swarms of ladybugs has started - there were two this morning. By the time I get home, there will probably be two hundred. Why they invade my bathroom, I don't know. Why they invade just by bathroom and shun the rest of the house, I don't know. I suspect the cat will be amused, though.

Oh, and the Strange Phenomenon has been repeated - when I'm tired, The Refreshments really do seem like the epitome of western musical genius. Very odd.

Found this in a couple of places, but just in case you haven't seen it, an elderly man drove three miles with a man's body through his front windshield.

I don't think I can really add anything to that.

I have a nest of quail next to my shed. There are not words to express my delight at this - I'm going to try to get some pictures this weekend, although it's going to take some work. If they notice me getting to close, they fly off into the thicker underbrush.

Honey Crisp apples are every bit as good as I was told. They're like the platonic apple ideal.

They're perfectly shaped, much like Fiji or Gala apples, not like some of the wierdly deformed Red Delicious. The aroma is incredible - I had to go digging through the groceries on my drive home so I could grab one because the smell was driving me insane. The taste? *sigh...*

I wasn't impressed at the first bite. The texture is perfect - crispy and crunchy without being too hard, but the taste didn't impress me much at first. Then it hit the back of my tongue, and the remarkable blend of sweet and tart just...yum. I, quite literally, had shivers going down my spine while eating it.

It's a damn good thing I like them as much as I do, because I bought almost six pounds of them, and not much else in the way of groceries. I know what I'll be eating all weekend!
