The Zoo over Ambuscade Street

Things that suck:

Driving to work in the pitch dark, on a narrow, winding road, with no places to pull over...and being hit with a massive wave off vertigo. Ugh.

I...have the flu. Bad. But I have too damn much work to do, so I can't take the time off. Hopefully, things like standing and sitting upright won't become an issue like, say, breathing is at the moment. My whole body feels like one giant bruise. Typhoid Stacey is my arch-nemesis right now.

This whole entry struck me as magnificently funny. I blame drugs - I'm hopped up on 'Quil right now. It's not making me feel any better, but it's making it so at least I don't care. Yay!

Hokay, I suspect that this would be funny even if I weren't drugged up.

See, I was somehow roped into volunteering to work the Blue & Gray Brewery Oktoberfest, which is happening this Saturday. Yea, that will be an adventure feeling like I am. Especially as we're apparently short at least two people... >.< Anyone who wants to stop by and visit me, please do!

But I digress. Today, I get an email offering me a discounted price on a "growler." I have no idea what this is, but apparently you fill it with beer. And you can't drink beer out of it until after the event ends. Anyway, digressing again. The beginning of the email has all this charming text designed to get people in the Oktoberfest mood. It reads thus:

OOOMPAH!! We are preparing for the 3rd Annual Fredericksburg Area Oktoberfest on September 24. The musicians are nimbling their fingers and laying out their lederhosen. The beer maidens are doing last-minute finger strengthening exercises to ready themselves for full beer steins. The event is free admission, and we hope you can make it, 11AM - 5 PM.

Ah...is that what I'm doing? Good to know, good to know...
