Penultimate != super-duper-special ultimate.
I had a blast this past weekend - we didn't head out until much later than planned on Saturday, because a group of armed robbers very rudely disrupted our plans and Erik didn't get home until after 7AM. He was so exhausted he was shaking, so I didn't feel right dragging him out of bed until he'd had at least three hours of sleep.
We made it up to Delaware intact, with Erik in varying stages of unconscious the entire trip. Once there we immediately left for Oktoberfest, where beer was drunk, bratwurst was eaten, and funny hats were bought for Erik. I think the exhaustion + beer was a crucial element in the buying of funny hats for Erik bit.
Amusingly enough, he managed to make a traditional German funny hat look much like a fedora - Erik put it on, and transformed into 1920's Chicago mafia. The boy has skills!
We stayed much longer than planned because we were having so much fun. Sunday morning we got up early, dressed in funny clothes, and headed out to PARF, which was a blast. One vendor asked if I was cast, which I found incredibly flattering. Yay!
Of course, we spent way too much time at the glassblower stand (this website never fails to amuse me). This is THE glassblower, not one of your namby-pamby glass-unicorn-making wannabes. I behaved, and only bought a small glass vase for my mother's birthday. It's purty. I have a few (dozen) pieces I think I want commisioned, though.
We stayed until after 5, which was a Bad Idea, because the drive back to the apartment took two hours. Then we had dinner (curried sweet potato...), and...had to drive back home. But we couldn't just drive home, we had to go get our dog first, which added another hour to the trip. 2AM or thereabouts (I really wasn't up to timekeeping at that point) we rolled into the driveway, unloaded the car, and crashed hard.
Then I slept all day yesterday. It was fun. Erik's not having quite so much fun this week, since he has to work security for The President's Cup. Disgustingly early mornings, long days, no extra pay, and rich, nemotode goodness (wait, I'm not supposed to bring that up, right?).
