Political satire - it made me laugh. Then cry. Then want to disembowel Buck and Fu-Master out of general principle.

[EDIT] If anyone wants to direct harassing phone calls at Buck, his phone number (I'll make it hard and force you to figure out the area code) is 775-BEER. He's very proud of this. His work number is 653-DEER or DEAR, I'm not sure which - he feels compelled to mention this at least twice a week, so clearly he wants them to be used.

When two funny things are suddenly connected, there are times when they become so much funnier than they were individually.

Take yesterday. New!Boss Lady was in a tizzy because someone (described only as 'he') managed to do something Really Stupid and pretty much physically impossible, roughly the equivalent of managing to unplug your refrigerator by turning on the microwave, when the refrigerator is across the room and on a totally different circuit. Just to add spice, this is the sort of thing that gets phrases like "threat to national security" thrown about. This was fairly funny.

Later in the day, she, Boss Man, and Fu-Master were in a discussion that got rather heated, about the location of some whiteboards. I didn't understand what had prompted that, um, "discussion" until later, but the highlight of it (for me, and a few other lucky witnesses) was New!Boss Lady turning to Fu-Master and telling him to shut the hell up. He turned purple, ran out of the room, and slammed the door behind him. Priceless!

It turns out, and you may have guessed this already, that Fu-Master was the perpetrator of the stupidity above, and that the whiteboard-locating issue was in a (probably futile) attempt to prevent any future occurences. Needless to say, New!Boss Lady didn't appreciate Fu-Master involving himself in the conversation much. *sniirk*

If I ever, ever look like I am, for any reason, going to pick up the third Vampire Hunter D novel...please, restrain me, using force if necessary. Ugh - it is, if possible, even more overblown than the first one.

And, it's the only novel I've managed to finish in the past two weeks - I'm in the middle of no fewer than seven different books, but I can't focus on any of them. I think I blasted through the Vampire Hunter D novel in the hope that maybe, possibly, it would get better at some point. It...didn't. One pivotal scene involved a character whose face fell off. I felt much the same way at that point. And any book that includes the line "the redcap varieties of pooka" is certain to draw my undying ire.

I don't know why, but I can't focus on a damn thing lately. Which makes playing with the cat fun, because we have about the same attention span. She's been bullying the dog unmercifully today, which is just so funny. The dog just wants to lay at my feet and be loved. The cat just wants to whack the shit out of the dog's nose or, barring that, chew on the dog's legs.
