I realized something interesting this past weekend. After three years under Boss Man, I'm like some sort of black belt in bureaucratic infighting. I still refuse to participate, but damn - I can recognize that shit and cut it off at the knees when I need to.
And this place? Should probably be illegal. They'll have a decent website in a month or so, but take my word for it - best pastries in town. By far. I'm resisting the urge as we speak to call and order a (dozen) cake(s). I now need someone I know to get married so I can order them a wedding cake. Oh yes. They might even be open early enough for me to stop by in the mornings on my way to work, which is probably a Bad Idea on many different levels.
I also discovered that Fredericksburg boasts two Thai restaurants, which is insane. Also, according to the Fred Tourism Bureau, "people are sick of the Civil War." I can't begin to tell you how strange this is in a town that has battlefield parks every fifteen feet and a college who's colors are blue and gray.
Even more amazing is the fact that neither Stacey nor I picked up on the school colors thing until after we graduated. Sometimes, we're dumb. Also Yankees.
