The Zoo over Ambuscade Street

My catalytic converters are shot. Yay! Parts ordered, I have to go back next week.

This makes a computer gone haywire, an asshole hit-and-run driver, and now this, all to a brand new freaking Mini Cooper!

There's only one logical explanation - I've been cursed by the Gods of Wheeled Vehicles. I should have realized this when I first broke bones roller skating, bowed to the inevitable, and moved to DC. But instead I chose to defy fate, and look where it got me! Should I even bother to mention the fates of the last three cars!?! All variously destroyed through no fault of my own.

I'm going to go pout now.

If anyone has the time (not that it takes long), inclination, and a tape measure, would you mind terribly measuring the size of your head for me? Especially guys. I'm trying to decide what sizes to make my hat patterns, and I'm suffering from a lack of data.

Gals - if you could do the same, then measure your head from the back of the neck to the top, I would appreciate it. I'm trying to do the same with my caul pattern, although there's less variance there.

Alas, the lovely white striped linen I bought for making cauls turns out to not be white with white stripes after all - it's white with rainbow mylar stripes. Pretty, but not exactly period. Luckily I'm going to be showing this stuff at the Fairies of the GEM festival at the end of the month, where period isn't as much of a concern. It's very pretty, just...not what I was hoping for. The black pintuck linen, on the other hand is going to make a gorgeous flatcap, even if I will need three layers of interfacing to stiffen up the brim. And I'm taking apart a burgundy velvet skirt that I don't wear anymore to make another two or three hats from. ^_^ Yay!

Now if I could just get the #!%#$^ tension on my sewing machine right...it needs a tune-up (the thing is at least thirty years old, and has probably never had one), but I don't have the time to take it right now, if I want to have anything done by the festival...

Once Rune sends me the money (gentle hint ^_^), I'll go get supplies for some floral wreaths. Maybe I can rope Stacey into helping me while she's on vacation this week...*evil*

But yes - please measure your heads, and tell me what the measurement is. I'll greatly appreciate it.

[EDIT] Wow, linen puckers really, really easily. I need to remember that...and my circle pattern is too small, at least for the amount of hair I have. I'll inflict it on Stacey tomorrow or Friday before I decide how to alter it.
