Well, we found a truck, at a price I'm willing to let Erik go out and get right away, in a condition that Erik's happy with, so I think we're going to get it. It's in North Carolina now, but the dealership is currently calling to check on the condition, and will transfer it to the Richmond branch for $150, which will get turned into a downpayment when we buy it. It's a 1998 Tacoma Xtracab PreRunner 2D Extended Cab, with 88K miles on it, for just under $10K, in case you're interested. After checking the specs, it has the towing capacity we need, so all is well.

Erik amused me last night - I've been pushing for a used truck for something like two years now, and he's been stubborn in his refusal. He drove by some dealership last night, when he had a dazzling flash of insight - if a new truck cost $16K (the model he was looking at), then a used truck would cost much less! And then he called me, very excited, to tell me that. I laughed. A lot.

It may put a crimp in Erik's Orlando plans, though - if we're buying a truck next week, he can't be in Florida for two weeks starting Monday...

In other, sadder news, it looks like I can't go to the Roanoke faire. I forgot that we have a dog, and no trustworthy neighbors. Curses, foiled again! On the upside, this means that Erik can probably work a concert on Sunday, for absurd amounts of money. I want to be able to work five or six hours and take home $350...
