So, other than the wierdness that I mentioned last night (and no, I'm not going to. Ever.), yesterday was a lot of fun. I ended up at the gift shop again with Melissa, who is awesome. She's a costumer, and her daughter is also a faire volunteer - who wanted a different costume for each of the nine days of the regular faire run. And...got them. Really, really well made costumes, too. I started talking to her about comissioning some costume pieces, and was quite happy with the results - she's going to make a brocade doublet for Erik...for $30 ($140 or more everywhere else). And the shirt for $15. If there's enough of the brocade he picks left, I'm going to get a matching bodice. Cloak? $20, if I provide the fabric. And she's giving me a leather bodice she has that's too small for her, and too big for her daughter.

I will have a dozen costumes by the time the Faire is over at this rate. For about what my celtic dress cost (which really was quite resonable, considering the workmanship and fabric they used).

The cast sucked badly on Sunday morning, but they woke up by midafternoon and started giving a much better performance. Only (only?) 485 patrons, but there was an air show the same day to contend with. Not bad at all. One woman forked out easily $1200 for a court gown at one of the vendors - beautiful work, but way, way too expensive. And I talked costumes with a few of the cast, which is always fun. I now know where I'll go when I want a full court gown.

Alas, the picture of the Bracers of Awesomeness are still on my camera at home, but - they rock. I have no idea at this point if I'm going to use them for a costume, or if Erik's going to use them for a costume. He liked them quite a bit as well.

I'm completely and utterly exhausted, somehow have to manage to work a full week, then I have three days of Faire (and the opening of the Lake Anna tourist season) to contend with after. Oy.

Bracers of Kicking Ass

I am far, far too proud of these. I wanted to wear them to work today. Not that I was not wearing these when asked to model, so you can't blame them. Do I look like someone who would model S&M furniture? I wasn't even wearing any leather at the time!
