Ikeburo West Gate Park was suprisingly good. I ordered it primarily because I've decided to order at least the first volume of every DMP series (DMP is heads and shoulders above every other English-language publisher out there on every front but quantity).
It's a rather disturbing book - I believe it's seinen, and it's very clear that this is an adult title. There's nudity and some pretty graphic sexual situations, but they didn't feel out of place. The story is about a strangler who targets high school girls who participate in subsidized dating (I wrote "subsidate" there three times. My icon is influencing me...). There's murder, violence, kidnappings, and a really interesting story. After one volume I'm not sure where it's going, but I'm along for the ride.
The closest thing I can think to compare it to in my collection is Banana Fish, although they really have very little in common. I think I'll be adjusting Ye Olde Budget some to fit the next two volumes in next month.
Step One of my Super Budget Plan is now complete - I have a separate checking account, linked to all my other accounts, that I'm going to use to fund all purchases. I preorder something, the money goes in the account. I should have the check card within a week or so. I'm only going to be using it at a very few trusted sites (TRSI, A10, DE, and Amazon). Should work out nicely, and ensure that I don't violate budgetary constraints, what with all the tree-buying and whatnot I'm going to need to do later this year.
Everything always has to hit all at once, doesn't it?
