Apparently, Kolten was not involved in last week's Incident, and there is some suspicion that the allegations are false. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. This does not change the fact that my in-laws have some seriously fucked-up karma. The Rage has somewhat subsided, but it wasn't a pretty weekend.
Speaking of in-laws, apparently Erik's cousin who died, came back to life, and then went blind eariler this year is getting married. On Friday. I'm assuming we're not expected to attend. They may have a larger reception at some point, but a wedding reception just isn't a wedding reception without cake, and a cake is pretty much impossible to make without milk and eggs. And butter. Vegans are mutant and strange.
In my attempt to not destroy people this weekend, I read about fifteen volumes of manga, three novels, and a short story collection. I'm about three-quarters of the way through novel #4.
Shadows over Baker Street was like a balm to my soul. The world needs more Holmesian/Lovecraftian pastiches. Yes, yes it does. The stories varied in quality, but most of them worked really, really well. Predictably enough, most were in the Holmesian style, with elements of Lovecraft added to the mystery. Some were in more of a Loveecraftian style, complete with story-ending italics. I was delighted. A Study in Emerald was probably the best of the bunch.
Work is going to be Very Interesting in coming weeks. I'll write more about that later, after I've digested recent events more completely.Boss Man may have manuvered himself right out of a job...
