I spent my drive home yesterday thinking up a fantasy cast list for Full Moon wo Sagashite, assuming an ADV license:

I would so love for this to happen...soon. It makes me cry that really, really good shows like this are being ignored, while...not so good shows are being released.

Wow - today is going to suck more than Monday did. I love it when that happens.

So, NMCI - we're paying between $300-400 a month for every single NMCI computer we have. Every single one. Every month. This is supposedly to cover the cost of infrastructure and support, and will save us money. Right. Feeling the cost savings, oh yes.

Now, say I need to move a computer from one room to another room. I fill out an insanely complicated form that says, in essence, Move this computer from this room in this building to that room in that building. Simple, no?

Except...this is NMCI. Keep in mind that we're paying $400 per computer per month for service. They want to know both the from wall jack number, and the to wall jack number. Now...I'm a Networks person, so this stuff is normal for me. But most places have secretaries doing this. Plus, in many cases the jacks are high up on the wall, with four unlabled cables running down behind massive cube furniture. How the hell do you-the-user tell which jack connects to your computer? You can't even follow the cable, because it's trapped behind a cube wall.

But it gets better. You-the-user have to tell EDS-the-networks-service-folks if the "to" jack is active. We have to test it for them. While I'm at it, how about I run some cable for you, too? And activate the port on your switch? Oh, and since I'm doing this, how about I move and set up the PC for you at the same time.

I'll tell you why not - because we're paying four-fucking-hundred-dollars a month for service that we don't get. And the contract...lets them get away with this.

I hate this project. It's like a bad parody of the stereotypical DOD project - years late and billions over budget, and the damn thing doesn't work. Except...this is real. And it's not going away. How the hell can we afford this?

[EDIT] Boss Man sets up a meeting yesterday, for 9AM, that relates to one of my projects. I am told nothing else about this meeting. It's 9AM, and he isn't even in the building yet. I really think I need to write off today as a dead loss.

The day continues down it's surreal path:

Fu-Master and Buck are discussing the urinary habits of rabbits. This is even more fascinating than the discussions they have on disciplining teenage children. Who are going to praise the name of god when they get to leave and go to college.

Bagpipes. Bagpipes, and Ba rara, and Sugar Baby Love. Or, perhaps I'll recreate the experience of watching Full Moon wo Sagashite and just play Myself on loop for the rest of the day. ^_^
