The Zoo over Ambuscade Street

I watched Spiral 3 yesterday. Now, I'm pretty conflicted on this series to begin with. The story itself I really enjoy, I think some of the characters are a lot of fun, and the first episode on this disc was probably my favorite episode in the series. On the other hand, the complete and total non-ending is painful. Very painful. I want translated manga now.

Quote of Irony (paraphrased, because I left my notes shoved in a book): "You've answered none of my questions about the Blade Children, nothing about my brother, nothing at all!"

Yea, that pretty much sums it up. Yet, I'm watching the R1 release fairly avidly. Why? Primarily because I think the dub is just so good. I adore Caitlin Glass, and the rest of the cast does a fantastic job as well.

Then, with this volume, they introduce the Southern Accent of WTFness. Think Foghorn Leghorn, except with a bit more of a drawl, and a few instances where the accent either slips or morphs into something unrecognizable. Ouch. The really bad part is that this character technically doesn't show up in this volume - while he becomes a major player later, he's limited to just flashback appearances here.

Contrasted with Eyes' Britsh accent, the scenes with the two of them together become a game of dueling accents. It's not necessarily a bad choice for the character, but it feels really overdone.

I'm debating my decision to watch at least one volume of BakuTen for the dub. I'm about 90% positive that the Texan Accent O' Mystery will probably show up there as well. On the other hand, it has Chris Patton. Decisions, decisions...

Maybe I'm in the wrong part of the Sahwth for it to sound natural, I don't know. But it certainly made the dub that much less enjoyable for me.

Caitlin Glass still rocks, though.

And someone talk me out of buying the second R2 disc of MAJOR. I do not need it for the box!
