This, my friends, is lust.

I doubt I'll ever be able to find this on Y!JP at a price I could ever justify after deputy fees and all that good stuff. But it's a nice dream...

Copyrights keep TV shows off DVD?

It's a really interesting article, and one that I'd like to shove in a few people's faces when they get all anxiety-ridden about an anime theme song change ("Just use the original! The Japanese will never know!" Riiiight...). If there are these kinds of problems with US-only shows, well then!

This seems like one more way that modern copyright law is creating problems, rather than merely protecting artistic creations. I strongly believe that artists should be compensated (ask me about my strange ideas of artistic sponsorship someday...), but I also believe that current law has gone far, far beyond that goal into downright strangulation of artistic development. Rather than promoting creativity, current copyright law stifles it.

(I just discovered that there's a new remaster of Bambi - add that to the list of movies I'd never, ever buy. Living where I do, I find it hard to be very sympathetic to a deer.)
