( In which I poke much fun at Naruto hysteria, because it's fun. )
Read this, please. I'm going to cry I'm laughing so hard.
[EDIT] I especially love the "OMG Naruto will become the next DB!" line of logic. Um...Naruto ran in the same magazine as DBZ. It's aimed at the same audience. Naruto's creator has publicly stated that DBZ was a large part of his inspiration in creating Naruto. So...yes, Naruto is "the new DBZ," and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I also really love the "I have to pay $30 a disc for three episodes - that's $1300!!!" Yea, asswipes, this shit isn't free. "American companies jack up the price to make lots of money and rip off the fans!" The price per episode for Naruto was rumored to be over $100K. Per episode. I say again - this shit ain't free, folks.
Yea, this is gold: "Bottom line is this....unless you buy it from china bootlegged it's not a reasonable price. American companies have us by the short and curlies and they take advantage of that. Being a business major, I can understand where they're coming from, but it doesnt' make it right. " Riiiiight, you're a business major, and yet you can't seem to grasp the concept of "licensing and production fees." Maybe the Business major at your school is much like the one at Mary Wash - where all the idiots too stupid to major in something else end up.
Seriously - what's the last non-4Kids show licensed by an American company that was actually "bastardized"? What shows are licensed that I am unable to go out and buy (or rent) uncut, unedited DVDs for?
I'm not sure at this point why I'm even continuing. This is more annoying than amusing, now.
[ADDENDUM] I was wrong, continuing was worth it. Disarm10 just won about 500 points with this post, not to mention all the previous comments he made. Also, the continuing insistance of many people that Naruto is aimed at a 13+ crowd never fails to amuse.
