On my way home, I was pondering anime remakes of classic western novels. There aren't many shows (Gankutsuou) that fit into this category, but there could be.

Can you imagine what they'd do with, say, a Jane Austen novel? A western comedy of manners, remade by insane Japanese people. I'm pretty sure they'd find a way to fit panty shots in there. The mental images are painful, if only from making me laugh so hard. Mansfield Park, as imagined by the Japanese...

Or what about something like The Deerslayer? Or Huck Finn? Ouch. They took Frankenstein and turned out Argentosoma, god alone only knows what they'd do with Doctor Zhivago.

This is kind of amusing, really.
