Log Trucks. Mr. Log Truck drivers, my road is not the convenient shortcut to Rt 522 that you think it is. Why? Because it's a small dirt road, and you drive a log truck. Mere months ago when I moved it was a smooth gravel road without a hint of a rut. Now, it's a muddy potholed mess, and it's all your fault.

This road isn't big enough for the both of us.

I mean that literally. What are you going to do if we're both on the road going in opposite directions at the same time? The road isn't wide enough to hold both of us, and there isn't anything even remotely resembling a shoulder that I can pull off onto.

I suppose I could drop my car into one of the ginormous potholes you've created.

Annoyance #2: Gate Nazis. Apparently, they start work at 8AM, duly noted. This particular one overlooked the fact that I have no base sticker (*whew*), but pointed out that my inspection was expired. What made this truly galling is that I had just passed the place I was going to get my car inspected at today, but I wanted to call them first from work to make sure they'd be able to fit me in today. And wait until it warmed up a bit, as that's a bit of a cold walk when one is wearing sandals.

The log trucks annoy me more, though.

I managed to get not one single guess right in the first round of the GANTZ guessing game. Not one. Mostly because I second guessed myself and switched roles for various actors, which resulted in me getting them wrong, when they would have otherwise been correct. Damnit.

GANTZ itself is also an annoyance today. It's a 26 episode series, with people getting themselves messily killed in dark, sci-fi sorts of ways. Just my thing. Except ADV is, for reason incomprehensible (which can probably be blamed on the Japanese), releasing it on...13 discs. Yes, you read that right. If I wanted freaking R2 episode counts, I'd buy the R2 discs. So I won't be buying this anyway, which I suppose makes not winning a free disc 1 and box more bearable. Damnit.

And I've had to trot all over the building looking for monitors that were delivered and signed off on when I wasn't here. The man who signed off on them somehow thinks this is my responsibility. Since that man is Boss Man, I suppose he's right, but things would have been much faster and easier if he had just done it himself. Since, you know, he's the one who knows where these things were delivered to. Damnit.

And I can't clean my countertops in my kitchen, because they're covered with beer-making apparata and half-finished beer. Damnit.

I think I'm going to write off the rest of the day and sulk with a good book.

I had no idea that there was a Patron Saint of the Internet. There ought to be a more appropriate picture of the man than just holding a huge book. Wearing a Half-Life shirt, for example, or splicing some fiber. Maybe wearing one of the upside-down SANS shirts with packet header information (upside-down so you can read your own shirt, of course).

[EDIT] Making Light always says things better.
