I live. Barely. But I'm still at work. I have gotten to go home this week, though, and there are hints that I may be able to stay at home and hide all weekend. Rock! Next week is slightly more problematic, however, and going home isn't looking good. Ick. Ack, even.
Karma is a beautiful thing, though. There are already talks of raises and bonuses, and I have made myself known as Someone Who Gets Things Done Well. Hopefully that won't fall apart next week, when the real trial beings. Starting with me, of course - falling on my own sword, so to speak, taking one for the team, except 24 other members of the team get to experience the hate right along with me on Monday.
Have I mentioned what a monumental disaster this project is? Congress is, apparently, finally realizing that Good Ideas on paper don't always translate into Good Ideas in practice, and this is one of them, to the tune of several billions of dollars and several years more than anticipated. And there's no way to track the manhours lost on this project.
Karma, however, is sweet. I may get to spend the last weekend of the month in sunny (I haven't seen the sun all week. It's dark when I get to work, and down when I leave. I did, however, get to see the spiffy Venus/Jupiter thingee this morning.) San Diego...at another NMCI conference with Andrea, who kept me so well entertained last time in New Orleans. A paid vacation of a sort. And much needed. Already. I still have three weeks to go.
(Meh, paid account expires soon. Meh.)
