My weekend did rocketh muchly. Other than the whole driving bit...more than four hours in the car every single day, bleh. Friday wasn't particularly memorable - getting up at 4AM, working 8 hours, then driving ~3 in heavy traffic leaves me rather braindead. At some point we got food, then we had to go to the grocery store for...something, where we found what is quite possibly the ugliest bouquet ever. One of those things that makes me wish I had my camera. It was a branch covered in icky-looking yellow chilis. That was it. All wrapped up in plastic with a bow. If Erik tried to give me something like that, I'd probably have to beat him with it.
Saturday was Much Better. We got up pretty early, Thomas made breakfast (I didn't believe him when he offered to make me an omlette), and we headed out to the PA Renn Faire. It was Slightly Chilly, so we spent lots of time at the glassblower's. Thomas and Stacey have apparently spent Lots of Money there this season, because he stopped and waved at them mid-show when we walked up to the stand. I eventually, after hours ofpeer pressure gentle persuasion, gave in to temptation and bought a purple Roman oil-lamp and a fantastically neat green and purple mug. I'm going to be buying a Leafy-Leafy mug next year, because they are Very Cool. Also very expensive, because they're fantastically difficult to make. I know this because he made one during the last show, which involved lots of abuse of Shawn the Apprentice. He also made a spiffy medieval bottle that broke right as he was finishing it. Amazingly, he refrained from yelling obscenities, although he clearly wanted to. Badly. There was some throwing of things, which amazingly did not result in broken objects.
There was much Watching of Bagpipe Players (One group was sick of "Scotland the Brave," and created their own version called "Scotland Depraved." It was fun.), general wandering (I bought a blue snood), and having a good time. Sadly, there was no buying of Pear and Blackberry wine, because they were sold out. Hopefully they've ramped up production on those, so I'll have a better chance of getting some next year.
We watched Boondock Saints that night, after dodging many buggies to get back. Warped and twisted movie - very good, though. I took off fairly early on Sunday, managed to forget my wallet, and only discovered that fact at the toll plaza. Nice, eh? Thomas came and rescued me, and refrained from taunting me.
Overall a good time - although a day to recover from the drive would have been nice.
