Boss Man: You have until October 13 to get this huge report and engineering project completed and in a finished enough form to present to my boss. This despite the fact that you're not an engineer and haven't the foggiest idea how to engineer things. I've given you guidance on how to write the report, you shouldn't need any more assistance engineering this thing.

Oh, by the way, you get to spend half the next two weeks in Important Meetings, and you get to spend all day today watching flunkes stare at wall ports. Did I mention that you have a huge freaking deadline coming up in about a week?

Oh yea. This is going to suck.

(This is what I really wanted to post this morning, and is far less rage-filled. I'm going to be Unmanagable today)

My mother called yesterday, and in the middle of a nice conversation pops out with this:

"Do you have plans for Thanksgiving yet?"

I respond, because I'm having enough trouble managing October's schedule, "No, not yet."

This was, I fear, a tactical error. The immediate response: "So, you're going to host us all at your new place, then?" ^_^;;;

I have two spare bedrooms, but with this I have five (six if you count my grandfather as separate, as I probably should) groups to find space for. Grandpa and Rachel/Nick should probably get the spare bedrooms, and my parents have already stated their intentions of bringing an air matress and sleeping in the office. This puts the other two couples on air mattresses in the greatroom, maybe, and Keith on the couch in the living room. That's at least 12 people I'm going to have to cook for, and that's operating under the assumption that nobody else local comes. Which could be a bad assumption. The table holds six, eight if we squish. If we add a card table to the end, I could probably fit everyone, but I don't have a card table or the extra chairs.

Food can be kept on the bar-thing and on the island, that's no problem at all. Mom has promised to cook the turkey, and Terry plans to perform the Traditional Turkey Dance beforehand (note to self: Have camera ready this year, damnit!). Rachel, Mom and I should be able to handle the rest. I actually have plenty of serving dishes and whatnot, but I might have a shortage of plates - need to check. Did I buy eight or twelve? I need more bowls anyway, so a trip to the outlet at Williamsburg might be called for.

Gack!
