The Zoo over Ambuscade Street

We did it, we did it, we did it, WE DID IT!!!!

After being on the market for a month, we were the first bid - on Sunday. By Monday, they had three other bids, including one that was full price, cash. Oy...

We had to rush out yesterday to ratify the modified contract before the deadline, or the house would have been gone, sold out from under us. But...

We did it!!!

The contract is signed and ratified. Now all we need to do is appease Angry Mortgage Man (our realtor apparently wasn't impressed by him either), and get the information we need to get a proper insurance quote. Our realtor should be handling the inspection, termite check, etc, and the bank handles the appraisal, so...I'm at loose ends, temporarily.

It was...rather stressful. After we signed the contract we went back home, I did everything I needed to do for the bridal shower, and then...I turned around and went back to work, because I have too much stuff to get done. (I'm currently mucking around in the Database o' Slowness, which is why I can type this) I'm probably going to have to come in on Saturday as well, to get all this ookyness taken care of.

We don't know, at this point, when we're going to close. The contract says the 30th, Angry Mortgage Man says August 13. So...somewhere in there.

Schedule for the next couple of weekends - this weekend, work. Next weekend, hand with Thomas and Stacey. Following weekend, Otakon. First weekend in August, bridal shower. Weekend after, probably closing and then moving. The next weekend, coming back from wedding, more unpacking. Followed by...probably two more weekends worth of unpacking, since I'm not going to be able to get any time off in there to move. Oh, and I have a Master's class starting somewhere in there, too.

Yay!

Let it be henceforth known that the 60GB purple iPod will be mine. I've been waiting for the next round of iPods in the hopes that I could get one in >40GB and pretty colors (I was thinking blue or green, but purple is clearly far superior), and it looks like that time is almost nigh. W00t!

Happy Bonus Time money in late September will probably be split between this and a fence on the new property for the monster.

I forgot to mention my other piece of spifftacular news I got yesterday, because it's kind of petty in a way - my father is not going to be coming to the wedding, which means I don't have the stress that comes from dealing with him. It's such a huge load off my mind, I can't even begin to describe it.

Nothing...is ever...easy...

Hokay, crisis temporarily averted. Color me stupid for not doing proper research and thinking things through - we may have to modify the contract and get slightly less ideal terms, but if that's what it takes, that's what it takes. I also have savings bonds and a substantial loan from my parents to cover any gap that may occur. One more thing to think about - insurance needs to be paid upfront as well.

I'm in full destressing mode now, shaking pretty badly. Special thanks go out to the Rachan for helping calm me down. ^_^

(Oh, and in completely unsuprising news, my father is no longer giving my sister $6,000 for her wedding. In fact, he's not paying anything. Izzy, I'll give you the full story at some point, but that's an example of one of his frequent tricks.)
