I finished The Companions at 0'dark-thirty this morning whilst sitting outside staring at a hole in the dirt (aside: I got paid for this. This is still unimaginably strange to me). Things didn't play out quite the way I had anticipated, but I was reading very closely and was able to identify where the twists were going to be, if not precisely what they were.
Good book. Possibly one of my favorites she's written. Although nothing tops impregnating male politicians with alien babies. I think I'm going to read The Awakeners: Northshore and Southshore next. Apparently all the strangeness is upfront in that one. After that I may tackle Singer from the Sea again. That was the first Tepper book I ever read, poor unsuspecting me. They really should come with disclaimers:
"This bookstore takes no responsibility for any mental damage caused by this book. No editors were harmed in the writing of this book."
