I'm going to have nightmares for a long, long time because of
this article.
To summarize why I find these fish so unaccountably creepy, they have big, sharp pointy teeth, and they can breathe out of water and
walk on land. So, if you ever piss one off, they can track you down, walk to your house, and eat you in your sleep. Ok, I exaggerate, but I'm still not getting within fifty yards of any lake or pond that's been confirmed to have these things in them.
For some background, in 2002 some small snakeheads were discovered in a pond in Maryland - apparently brought over as a pet (!!!) and dumped. There was a huge to-do with bounties offered for each one brought in, to try to get rid of them. They're such voracious carnivores that some biologists was feared that they could destroy the ecosystem of this pond, and then walk to the next pond and start all over again. No joke there, sadly...
This one is in a completely differend lake, and is at least
four years old. They're going to
drain the freaking lake in an attempt to get rid of the dreaded creepy frankenfish.
