Two trips to Circuit City and more hours than I want to think about later, I have a functioning computer. Which bears little resemblance to the old computer since, at this point, the only parts they share in common is the two optical drives, the two CD drives, and the memory. Everything else - new. And I'm going to have to replace my system drive, because it is getting ready to go at some point, too. Funny clicking noise wasn't the fan.
But, since I now have working CD drives I can burn everything off, pull out the 40GB drive that's going, format and reinstall the OS on the 30GB drive, and pick up an 80-100GB storage drive when I can find one cheap. Should work quite nicely.
The day also started out with a phone call from my boss saying hey! You might have to come babysit a hole all freaking night, because they're not planning on covering up our pipes! Did you know that? No, I didn't. Luckily, it was my boss on scene, and he apparently managed to bully the foreman into covering stuff up, because the next phone call I recieved was a much happier one.
Here's hoping nothing happens tomorrow. I'm going to crash now.
