Ok, this is wierd and I haven't been able to fix it. Having to think through the cotton my head has been apparently stuffed with doesn't help, either.

My CD drives are behaving oddly. Initially it was just under Erik's account (we're using XP Pro), but it started in on mine last night. If we want to, for whatever reason, change CDs, the drive will not read. At all. It won't even attempt to read the disc, and the only way to actually get it to read the disc is to restart the computer. It acts normally then....until you want to change CDs.

I don't know if I have a necessary service turned off, if there's a HW problem of some sort, or if it's something different altogether.

Any of you smart folks have any insight?

Ok, I'm a few days late. But I have to agree that one resolution we should all make is to remove all of these words from our collective vocabulary. And I always find it interesting to see what people are searching for.

But the crowning glory of New Year's is, as always, Dave Barry's Year in Review.
