This is...impressive. Granted, I don't have a HUGE array of experience, but Don Giovanni and La Boheme are two of my favorite operas, I've heard nothing but good about Porgy & Bess, and Daughter of the Regiment looks fun.

Season passes. I wants them. $500 is perfectly reasonable, right?

Sure! Himself and I had season tickets to one of the local theatre's braodway series this past year, and it was the best money we've spent in a long time. So much so that we're doing it again this year. :)

You usually get a discount per show if you buy season tickets, and we see it as enforced date nights. ;)

Enforced date-night is definitely a good thing. I was thinking broadway series season passes initially, but the shows that are coming, while fun, don't really WOW me. While this? So does. And it looks like a pair of season passes could cost us as little as $200, if we get horrible seats, all the way up to $500 for awesome seats. Chances are we'll go somewhere in-between.

My mom and aunt used to do season passes to the opera every year and TOTALLY dug it. I say do it.

As probably the biggest opera nut on your friends list, I say that looks like a solid season of works, enjoyable for a long-time fan or a neophyte.

La boheme is a great work, Daughter of the Regiment is fun and has the aria with 9 high C's in it, Don Giovanni is one of the all-time great works, and Porgy and Bess is *the* American opera.

Awesome, thanks! A friend of mine also recommended the director of Don Giovanni highly, so I'm pretty well sold. Daughter of the Regiment was the only one I wasn't sure about, but I'm reassured on that point.

In case you have a spare twenty minutes, a prime excerpt from each of the four operas:

7 8 9
